The second edition of Basic Electrical Engineering is specially designed for the first year engineering students of the University of Mumbai. Beginning with the basics of electricity, the book provides an exhaustive coverage of topics such as dc and ac circuits, three-phase circuits, single-phase transformers, electrical machines, induction motors, and DC machines. The subject matter in each chapter is developed systematically from the basic principles and is supplemented with several solved examples. In addition, there are appendices at the end of the book, which would prove useful in understanding the fundamental concepts of electricity, capacitor, magnetic circuit, electromagnetism, and electromagnetic induction.

B.R. Patil is currently Principal at Vishwaniketan's Institute of Management Entrepreneurship & Engineering Technology (iMEET), Mumbai, India. A PhD in Electrical Engineering from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai, he has 4 years of industrial experience and 23 years of experience in teaching engineering students and training industrial employees. His fields of interests are Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Nuclear Instrumentation.
